We are currently running DB2 Z/OS v9. We are looking at CA DB2 INSIGHT and BMC MAINVIEW. Does anyone have any experiences they are willing to share.

thanks

(in response to Mary Ellen Archer)
I have worked with both the CA & BMC produce sets, including MainView &
Insight. I have been happy with both the MainView product and its
support. BMC is famous for its quality support. My experience with CA
is that their support was infamous. BMC consistenly provides better and
earlier support for new releases, functionality, etc. For both DB2 &
IMS, BMCs products and support are consistenly superior, IMHO.

Not a fair question and not a fair comparision.

"Performance monitors" are often a bundle of products and you don't indicate in sufficent detail what the product features are.

Its best to start with real requirements.
Notice the word real.
I can't begin to tell you how many clients who wanted an operational alert system purchased the product that did the best interactive explain because it was really cool.

There are at-least four other vendor groups to consider.
Freebies (start with the IDUG code page)
Intergrate features of monitors you all ready have (MXG for example does a very good job but it is batch)
Recall you did not say what your requirements are, do you need online / interactive at substancial additional cost?
Additional tools from IBM (Omegamon/PE for example)
Tools that come DB2
-DIS THREAD(*)
-DIS OLDS
for example

I am sure there are many other vendors.
