Dear Members,

Firstly, Happy New Year and best wishes for 2011.

NEW CHAIRMAN, UK DB2 USER GROUP

In October we let you know that Derek Storkey had stated his intention to resign as Chairman of the UK DB2 User Group and we called for nominations for his successor. This was discussed at the November GSE conference, and I am very pleased to let you know that Phil Nelson is our new Chairman.

Phil has been involved with the User Group for many years, and will be no stranger to most of you. For those who don't know him check out his IBM Information Champion profile at http://www-01.ibm.com/software/data/champion/profiles/nelson.html. I am sure you all join me in congratulating Phil on his new position, and also in thanking Derek for all his hard work and enthusiasm for the DB2 UK User Group.

LAST MEETING

There were a number of very well-received DB2 presentations at the November GSE conference, and the majority of the presentation materials are now available on our website, http://www.gseukdb2.org.uk/.

NEXT MEETING

Our next meeting will take place on 24th March 2011 at CA's European Headquarters at Ditton Park near Slough. If you have had any interesting experiences with DB2, whether with new or little used functions, or perhaps using well known functions in a novel way, please do consider making a presentation at our March meeting. Please contact Phil Nelson<mailto:[login to unmask email]> if you are interested in presenting at this meeting. You don't have to prepare a full length session - contributions of any length are always welcome and if you're a User you may qualify for one of our Presentation Awards of up to £200. The audience is guaranteed to be a friendly one, and there's no better way of raising your profile in the industry and showing off your achievements.

With kindest regards,

Sue Alder
