Migration Experience "XML in CHAR-Format etc. in DB2 for z/OS" to pure XML in
Hi

Welcome to Dante's 'XML circle'.......At least for me old dinos, it's like
a 'circle', a hierarchical in a relational.... Just now, for other
reasons,on other platforms and with other tools (but I'm planning to try
it
in my z/OS soapbox in the future), I'm fighting with XML,,XSD,XSLT,well
formed documents, templates, validations.... and all other stuffs.

I left a company while they just started to talk about this topic so I
started only to read something. Anyway look at:

http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/data/library/techarticle/dm-0803shelton/index.html

It's a 3-part article dealing with move from CLOBS to native XML. If you
Google 'xml migration db2 9' you'll find all 3 parts. I'd have something
else in my database, but I've to dig a little. It could provide some hint.

DB2 for z/OS" to pure XML in DB2

Hello,

We have installed DB2 for z/OS V9 NFM nearly one year. We know that many
of our DB2 application projects have to handle XML structures since years.
Some of that projects also have their "XML-Data" already in DB2 in CLOBs
or VARCHAR columns. Now we want to build the first prototyp with one of
this projects (that already has XML-Data in DB2), to get real experience
with the new pure XML functionalities and to see the advantages in DB2 (
and also the possible pitfalls).

How has already experiences in that area or is planning that "kind of
XML-migration"?
