Do you sometimes ask the following questions:

1. How do I know I have enough DASD space for my DB2
data?

2. I hear about different DASD model types, what does it
mean?

3. How does DB2 work with SMS, and why should I care?

4. How does fragmentation effect my DB2 volumes?

5. Why do I need to care about items in the VTOC and ICF
catalog?

6. My shop has a mix of DASD (IBM and third party). Isn’t
disk just a disk?

they all the same thing?

help me?

Come and join this session and get answers to your Storage

1:00 - 2:15 Application Performance: The Red Flags to Look For
Presenter: Joe Burns, Highmark, Inc.
Application programmers and DBAs both have a vested interest in
ensuring good application performance. But inevitably
performance issues will arise, and it can be difficult to
decide where the problem is. Or in some cases even if there is
a performance problem. In this presentation we will look at
performance terms like synchronous I/O, Getpages and DB2 Class
2 times. We’ll also look at what they should mean to us when
we are trying to resolve a performance issue. Programmers and
DBAs alike should leave with a better understanding of the red
flags that can point to potential performance problems.
