'build a string' for output in my stored procedure

Jay Huffman

'build a string' for output in my stored procedure
need to 'build a string' for output in my stored procedure. I have tried:

NOROWS is an INTEGER type that has been set to a value

p_message is defined as a OUT parm as varchar(100).

set p_message = 'This query returned ... ' CONCAT NOROWS CONCAT ' rows' ;

or

set p_message = 'This query returned ... ' || NOROWS || ' rows' ;

neither way works -

Is there a way to 'build a string to return ?

Thanks for your assistance.
