Agenda for October 5th, 2005
8:30 - 9:00 Breakfast , Compliments of Computer Associates

9:00 - 10:30 Table Partitioning with v8 of DB2 for z/OS
Presenter: Phil Grainger, Computer Associates International
Version 8 of DB2 for z/OS brings us Table Based Partitioning. What
is it? When would I use it? Why do I care? are just some of the
questions answered by this session. Starting from the existing
index-based partitioning we will look at how table based
partitioning differs and also look at some of the "accidents waiting
to happen"

10:30 - 10:45 Break

10:45 - 11:45 Scrolling, Scrolling, Scrolling
Presenter: Phil Grainger, Computer Associates International
We seem to have had scrollable cursors for ages, but in reality it's
only been since version 6 on the z/OS platform. This presentation
looks at the evolution of scrollable cursors over the last few years
and considers some things that are still missing. Although aimed at
application developers, there will be information here of interest
to DBAs too

11:45 - 12:30 Lunch, Compliments of Computer Associates

12:30 – 2:00 DB2 Utilities for Application Developers
Presenter: Phil Grainger, Computer Associates International

DB2 utilities are normally kept secret by database administrators.
This is a shame as there are many things that application developers
could use them for. This presentation looks at some of the tasks
that can be performed with the IBM or ISV utilities to make
application developments life simpler. NOTE. Apart from the IBM
utility names, NO ISV utilities are named in this presentation -
only outline functionality

2:00 - 2:15 Closing
