DB2 Application Performance Analysis: Asking The Right Questions

Presentation Abstract

DB2 provides a comprehensive set of subsystem and application traces. The
DB2 Accounting traces provide essential information on application execution
and performance.

Often the achievement of good application performance is a matter of
having a sound performance methodology, and asking the right questions.
This presentation will consider the logical tuning methodology for analyzing
DB2 application performance. By asking the appropriate questions this
presentation will demonstrate a logical methodology for isolating DB2
application performance problems..

The DB2-Websphere Survival Guide

Presentation Abstract

Database performance may have a major impact on the success or failure of
a WebSphere project. DB2 expertise is key to many WebSphere projects. DB2
databases are a critical component of WebSphere applications
implementations. The challenge is that many WebSphere professionals may not
have a complete understanding of DB2 funtion and performance dynamics.
Also, DB2 professionals are still learning about WebSphere, and the body of
knowledge of 'best proctices' is still being formed.

This presentation will focus first on 10 key points about how DB2 operates
that database professionals need to explain to their WebSphere colleagues.
The presentation will then cover 10 key points that DB2 professionals need
to understand about WebSphere. The presentation will finish with 5
important performance considerations. The goal is to highlight critical
success factors in a typical WebSphere project.

Who should attend?

This presentation is geared toward any DB2 DBA responsible for having to
support DB2. One presentation is geared for DB2 on z/OS. The second is
geared for DB2 on both z/OS and Open Systems.
