Carl,

I'm apologize for being so long getting back with you, but I'm glad
to say that the Indianapolis Oracle Users Group has just told me
that they would like to host one of our Relational Database Tools
Fairs. However, they feel they can only bring in about 50 people.
Do you suppose that if you joined forces with them we might be able
to see 50 people from your group as well?

If you are still interested, please let me know and I will send you
a copy of our information letter. It describes the event in greater
detail, including what you can expect and what (non-financial)
support we would need from you to make it a success.

Thanks for your patience as I worked through the details on this.
Please let me know what you think.

Sincerely,

Andrew Stiles

Our group would not be able to provide the necessary 100 attendees.
But, Indy has an Oracle group and an SQL Server group. Combined, we
might be able to do something. Let me check around.

Dear Carl,

I received your e-mail from the IDUG website as the contact for the
Indiana
DB2 Users Group. I was looking to get in touch with you about a new
tour of relational database tools fairs that I am working to produce
for groups such as your own. This one-day event brings 10-25
vendors from the DB2, Oracle, SQL, and other related fields to
discuss the latest developments from their perspective of the
industry. The day includes breakout sessions with vendors, a
topical keynote address following a complimentary lunch, an
afternoon snack break with vendor giveaways, and one-on-one time
with vendors in our comfortably-sized exhibit area.

My experience with these types of events is that they are a good way
for your members to be brought up-to-date on a broad range of topics
without the time and expense of attending a national conference.
There is no cost to either your organization or your members for
this event, as long as we can reasonably expect at least 100 people
to attend. If your group isn't large enough to support this kind of
event on its own, perhaps you can provide suggestions of other
related user groups in your area that may be interested in
partnering with you.

Please let me know if there would be any interest to bring an event
like this to your group. If you have any questions, please feel
free to e-mail me back, or give me a call at (248) 841-3840.

Have a great day,

Andrew Stiles
