DB2 V8 Implementation Issues and Challenges



The presentation will focus on the issues and challenges encountered in
implementing and running DB2 Version 8. The real world impact of new
features like Data Partitioned Secondary Indexes and online schema change
will be discussed as well as suggestions and observations on the use of the
features. ..

This presentation is geared toward all DB2 professional working
towards a successful migration to DB2 V8.


Presenter:

Ralph Crosby, DB2 Chief Architect BMC

Ralph Crosby has been developing mainframe software for 28 years. Starting
with DB2 Version 1.1 in 1985, Mr. Crosby has spent 21 years designing and
implementing DB2 databases as well as building tools for the enhancement of
DB2. In 13 years at BMC Software he has been responsible for the design and
development of the LogMaster for DB2, Online Reorg for DB2 and Smart Recover
for DB2 products. His current position is that of DB2 Architect responsible
for the planning, architecture and strategic direction of the entire suite
of BMC DB2 for z/OS products. Mr. Crosby has presented at numerous
conferences and user groups.
