    8:45 - 9:00 Welcome

9:00 – 10:15 Demystifying the Dynamic SQL Statement Cache
    Presenter: Bill Arledge, BMC Software

Dynamic SQL is being used more and more in DB2 shops around the world.
Multiple factors are driving this increase in usage. As with most DB2
options Dynamic SQL offers potential benefits, as well as, new management
challenges. This technical session begins with a brief overview on SQL
tuning followed by a more detailed discussion on managing and tuning
dynamic SQL. Finally, we’ll discuss the dynamic statement cache, a DB2
feature that can help address dynamic SQL performance issues.

    10:15 - 10:30 Break

    10:30 - 11:45 DB2 9 on z/OS – What’s In It for You?
    Presenter: Bill Arledge, BMC Software

This session provides a detailed overview of DB2 9 on z/OS and discusses
value and implementation considerations for these new features. We’ll look
first at infrastructure enhancements and then review application
considerations, including new data types and SQL options.

    11:45 - 12:30 Lunch and Learn
    Presenter: Gregory Kline, IBM
    Topic: TBD

    12:30 - 1:15 How and When to change the DB2 Optimizer's Mind
Presenter: Sheryl M. Larsen, Sheryl M. Larsen, Inc.

This presentation will teach you what to do once you are inside an SQL
performance tuning tool. Traditional and extreme methods for altering
optimizer chosen access paths will be demonstrated. IBM warranted tuning
methods such as OPTIMIZE FOR 1 ROW, no operations, REOPT(VARS), as well as
additional methods, such as fake filtering and DISTINCT table expressions,
will be demonstrated. Extreme Cross Query Block Optimization techniques,
X2QBOPT will be demonstrated for extreme situations. The how to tune SQL is
usually easy; however, sometimes drastic situations demand extreme
    measures.

    1:15 - 1:30 Break

    1:30 - 2:45 DB2 9 Performance Topics for Developers and Architects
Presenter: Sheryl M. Larsen, Sheryl M. Larsen, Inc.

DB2 9 for z/OS performance enhancements will be discussed in terms of
    positive application impact.
    Objective1: Understand DB2 9 Optimization enhancements
    Objective2: Understand DB2 9 Index enhancements
    Objective3: Understand DB2 9 Join enhancements
    Objective4: Understand DB2 9 In Memory enhancements
    Objective5: Understand Some DB2 9 SQL enhancements.
