Forum News

Hello everyone. It's been a bit quiet here over the past few weeks, with lots of people busy planning their upgrades and others traveling to Anaheim for the IDUG North America conference a the beginning of May.

I wanted to fill you in on some recent progress and news for this forum:

- At IDUG NA we held a Special Interest Group (SIG) dedicated to DB2 10 upgrade issues. This was very well attended, and a lively and informative debate ensued that covered many different areas of the upgrade process, justification, tools implications and several other areas (this information will included in the white paper discussed below).

- We also used the SIG to present some preliminary results from our upgrade survey. If you'd like to participate in this survey there is still two weeks before it closes - please go to http://www.esurveyspro.com/Survey.aspx?id=9526985a-d3c5-427a-9075-ad7c64101b17. It only takes a couple of minutes, and we'll be publishing the full results here in early June.

- Work has begun on our "DB2 10 living white paper", which will be a constantly-evolving document containing useful links, shared experiences and upgrade justifications. The initial version of this will be made available via the IDUG website in early June.

- We just exceeded 100 members in this group, but there are sure to be even more people out there that could benefit and contribute. Please continue to let people know of the existence of this group so we can include as many views and experiences as possible.

That's it for now. Please don't forget that we have some very experienced IBMers, consultants and users monitoring this forum so if you have any questions or issues connected with your DB2 10 upgrade please post them here so you can get some expert advice and benefit the rest of the community in the process.

Finally, please don't forget to complete that DB2 10 Upgrade survey, at http://www.esurveyspro.com/Survey.aspx?id=9526985a-d3c5-427a-9075-ad7c64101b17

Thanks

Julian

DB2 10 Upgrade Experiences - Forum News for August 2011
(in response to Julian Stuhler)

Hello everyone

Welcome to the new look IDUG DB2 10 Upgrade Experiences Forum!

As from today (19th August 2011) we will be closing down the temporary group we established earlier this year on LinkedIn, and all of the content from that group has been moved here to a dedicated area within the main IDUG website.

The new forum capabiltiies of this site should make it much easier for you to read, search for and contribute DB2 10 upgrade expereinces, and with so many sites begininng their upgrade planning in earnest I'm thrilled that the IDUG web team has been able to provide us with this facility.

During the discussions I've had with many of you, there was a clear requirement to be able to make some sensitive posts anonymously in order to maintain company confidentiality and/or adhere to employment restrictions. In order to address this requirement, we have set up a process for requesting an anonymous IDUG logon ID, and I'll be detailing that in a separate thread. Please use anonymous postings only when the situation demands it, as we'd like to keep this forum as interactive and personal as possible.

Finally, please note that if you don't have the time or the ability to visit this forum directly on a regular basis you can always set up an email subcription or consume it via an RSS feed if you wish. You can also post to the forum by emailing [login to unmask email].

As always, please feedback any comments or suggestions to improvement as we're keen to make this facility an essential tool to assist with your DB2 10 upgrade planning and implementation.

Thanks

Julian
