db2 backup to multiple drives on z/linux environment

Hi

We are currently on a z/Linux machine with DB2 running. Currently we are taking the backup using

Code:
db2 backup db <databasename> to <location> PARALLELISM 10 compress WITHOUT PROMPTING

our database is huge and the above script is taking about 180 to 190 mins to backup. We found some solution to backup to
multiple drives instead of one to enhance the speed of operation.

Could anyone please explain or eloborate how to take make the backup to multiple drives on linux machine.

What other tuning can be done to make it fast.

Any help is much appreciated

thanks

Do this:

db2 backup db <databasename> to location1, location2, location3 compress WITHOUT PROMPTING

In this way, you will have parallel writing to these 3 ( or more locations).

Let DB2 decide the parallelism degree, by removing the parallelism clause.

Thanks for posting,I've encountered a problem with my window backup too.Let me start with the backup process. I opted to do only a critical partition backup because I was only concerned with cloning the system partitions. The data partitions I could copy peacemeal myself, but the system partition is harder to clone correctly without messing up symlinks, hardlinks, ACLs, and alternate streams. We're long past the point where you can just do a straight file copy of the Windows folder -- doing that nowadays will cause the WinSxS folder to pop open with a giant SPROING and spray duplicate file confetti all over your new drive. Either a very smart file backup tool or a partition imager is needed to get everything over correctly, and Windows Backup at least knows how to do this. I have been researching this subject for a few days now for a report I am writing. Your post has been very helpful in this regard. [Moderator has removed the attached link]
