1:15-2:30 "Enhanced Monitoring Support in DB2 10 for z/OS"
Presenter: Mark Rader, IBM Corporation

How can you take advantage of the dramatic changes in monitoring delivered in DB2 10 for z/OS? This session introduces the changes that allow you to: track performance at the statement level for static and dynamic SQL, feed statement metrics to performance tools, identify the SQL statements involved in deadlocks, timeouts or lock escalations, and monitor connections, threads and idle thread timeouts with greater granularity than a single set of DSNZPARM values. This introductory session includes suggestions on how you might use these features in your DB2 for z/OS environment.

2:30-2:45 Break

2:45-4:00 "DB2 & WLM"
Presenter: Mark Rader, IBM Corporation

Confused about what exactly the IBM z/OS Workload Manager (WLM) is, how it manages work on your system, and how it relates to IBM DB2? In this session, we review the WLM features, including the types of goals you can set for each service class, importance levels and work classification. This information is the foundation for understanding how IBM DB2 for z/OS uses WLM, including advanced WLM functions such as enclaves and application environments. We also explain the relationship between the different types of DB2 work and WLM.
