Presenter: Phil Gunning, Gunning Technology Solutions, LLC.

Learn what types of temporal tables are available for DB2 LUW and when to use what type. See examples of how to define and use system period, application period and bi-temporal tables. Insert, update and delete rules will be discussed. New special registers and keywords will be presented.

Learn how to transition from snapshot based monitoring to the new monitoring infrastructure introduced in DB2 9.7 and DB2 10. Database Manager Configuration settings along with best practice settings will be discussed. Learn how to use the new table functions based on the new infrastructure. Use cases for the use of the MONREPORT reporting module will be presented. Understand the importance of interval based monitoring and identifying and tuning the Top 10 SQL using the new procedures.

The DB2 Migration Course to DB2 10 has a section devoted to XML and new features introduced in DB2 10. This presentation covers those concepts and provides an overview of XML for those who are learning XML as well. XML has evolved from the extenders module to a main feature in the database engine. Be ready to learn all you need to know about XML in DB2 10!

This presentation looks at the features of DB2 10 for z/OS with an emphasis on the features focusing on performance. DB2 10 promises opportunities for CPU savings in various areas. We will review those enhancements and look at all details surrounding new SQL and application features. We will look at where the performance opportunities are, what we need to do to take advantage of them, and any additional considerations when exploiting these features. We will also look at experience with these features and performance realizations.
