Sad news for the DB2 community

William Favero

Sad news for the DB2 community
I just found out that Ed Long passed on Friday, April 7, 2017.

I met Ed through DB2 and have been friends with him for more than 20
years, partly because of DB2, but mostly because he has always been such
a good guy. I know that quite a few people on this list do the
speaker thing and have probably had the opportunity to speak at the New
England DB2 User Group. If you have, then you know Ed. He was the
main reason I made all those trips to Sturbridge back in the day.

Ed was a great guy, a fellow DB2 techie, a fellow musician, and a friend
who will be sorely missed.....

So sorry to hear that, I also knew Ed for many years, emailed with him many times, and made several presentations at the NE User Group.

He will be sorely missed in our community.

oh good grief I have only just read this - yes, Ed is a great loss to the DB2 community and also to all of us who were proud to call him a friend as well as a colleague.

Sad news indeed. He was a great guy. Knowledgeable and always willing to provide a good suggestion or advice. If you knew Ed, he was a friend.

Very sorry to hear about this – I worked with Ed for several years and definitely considered him a friend. We shared a passion for sailing, music as well as the common IT interests. He will be missed!
