Converting a TS from user managed to DB2 managed - DB2 11 for z/OS
Hi,

is there anything else to do before or after executing ALTER TABLESPACE?
I've searched for the info with no luck.
Kind regards,

**please note my email address change**
I haven't done that in maybe twenty years...

Back up (and UNLOAD) the first wave in an active developer environment and use it/them a while before doing it in production. Do both before a production change, as well. Also, consider just running a REORG as soon as you've converted it.

Actually, to be _completely_ paranoid about it? Take an outage, and UNLOAD/DROP/CREATE/LOAD to make the change.

If you are in DB2 v11, you can check SYSIBM.SYSPENDINGDDL for any pending definition changes to objects that need REORG to be applied.

It depends on whether the HLQ for the dataset changes or not.
If the HLQ changes, you can rename the cluster and data components assuming they will be in the same ICF catalog.
If the ICF catalog will be different then you need a data move.
If HLQ doesn't change nothing is needed.Make sure object will be restarted for access.
If the object is a work file dataset, create new tablespaces and drop the old ones.
The admin guide talks about what is involved.
