DB2 z/OS Upgrade - rebinds required?
Hi all,

We are doing our first DB2 z/OS upgrade from V10 to V11.

Are application package rebinds *required*? Or just recommended?

Also, can we use our V10 RUNLIB programs (such as DSNTIAUL and DSNTIAD) or do those need to be recreated? Thanks for any guidance!

DB2 z/OS Upgrade - rebinds required?
(in response to Mike Martin)
Mike,
I think the pre-migration job DSNTIJPB tells you the packages that require rebind, but I think it was mainly if they hadn't been bound in V10. The V10+ package is eligible for above-the-bar storage, whereas V9- aren't.We also hadn't rebound the PLANS for a long time, and these need to be V10+ as well.
I think you can keep DSNTIAUL, DSNTIAD, DSNTEP2/4 as long as the package and plans are V10+, but I keep these in a versioned library, so I tend to just run the sample jobs each time and create new ones. Regards, Tony

DB2 z/OS Upgrade - rebinds required?
(in response to Mike Martin)
Hi,
I really recommend you to REBIND all your application packages after migrating to V11 CM.
The reason for that is to get advantage of new access paths and other performance improvements in the new code, the REBIND will also correct potential errors from older DB2 code.
Use the plan stability features to easy backout from problems found after you rebound the packages

Best Regards
