I know several shops using EAV volumes for various functions

You might want to post to the IBMMAIN list for a broader audience on EAV volumes
and how they work

To join, if you have not done so, go to this url

General MVS IBM-Main https://listserv.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html

So long as your z/OS System has all of the maintenance on for EAV volumes - you
should be okay.

Do you have a specific concern?

Yes - some thoughts based on our experiences

IBM provides a checker program to monitor all i/o - it will report allocations that would fail if the process doing the allocation can't allocate on an eav-enabled volume -
If any hits - you will need to contact 3rd party vendors for EAV-compliant versions of their software

- Or -

Create a pool of non-eav volumes and limit the offending processes to those dasd volumes
