SYSCOPY Scan Operating Mode

SYSCOPY Scan Operating Mode

Hi All,
We use Redirected Recovery feature in Recovery Expert for data migrations from one database to other database.

In the Recovery options, there is SYSCOPY Scan Operating Mode that decides which SYSCOPY rows to consider when finding a starting point for processing.

The valid values for SYSCOPY Scan Operating Mode are Zparm, Local, Recover, User.

If I choose the value Zparm for SYSCOPY Scan Operating Mode, what Db2 Zparms are considered in finding a starting point for processing?

Thanks,

Bharath Nunepalli,.

Hi Bharath,

I believe it is SITETYP

https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/beta/SSEPEK_11.0.0/inst/src/tpc/db2z_ipf_sitetyp.html

but I can check with development.

Do you want to use a specific image copy for a redirected recovery?

Best regards,

Jørn,

I did data migration, with Source database having both LP (on DISK) and LB (on TAPE) backups.
I clearly mentioned in Recovery Expert's Recovery options that I need the jobs to use only LP backups.
But I saw in the jobs that they are using LB backups, but not LP backups.

My Recovery options are

SYSCOPY Scan Operating Mode = ZPARM

SYSCOPY Selection Pref = LP

I noticed that SITETYP is set to LOCALSITE.

I guess SITETYP is only to specify whether the current system is at a local site or a DR site. But, don't effect the selection preference in LP or LB. Is that correct?

Hi Bharath,

The SYSCOPY Selection Preference is only used if the scan operation mode is set to User.

This should work:

SYSCOPY Scan Operating Mode = User

SYSCOPY Selection Prereference = LP

I tried to generate the JCLs by changing the SYSCOPY Scan Operating Mode to User. But, the build job failed with this message.

ARYX066E--An XML schema violation was detected; element "syscopy-scan" value "U" is invalid.

I created a PMR for this.

Hi Bharath,

This very recent APAR (see item #24) http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?crawler=1&uid=swg1PI86756 might be a fix for that problem.
