V11 z/OS Explain: DSN_STAT_FEEDBACK

V11 z/OS Explain: DSN_STAT_FEEDBACK
I'm running an EXPLAIN through the BMC Mainview product. It just kicked my request out with SQLCODE=-878 and complained about DSN_STAT_FEEDBACK not being in Unicode.

I'm assuming that this means that I should have dropped-and-recreated any instances of DSN_STAT_FEEDBACK (in Unicode) when we upgraded DB2. I'm assuming there's a sample of the DDL in the SQL Reference or somewhere similar, and am off to look for it.

Comments?

Hi Phil,
Yes, it should be Unicode.
Look at DSNx10.SDSNSAMP(DSNTESC) for the newer standards.
My guess is you performed a migration, so the older (ebcdic) tables/spaces may be what you have.
Good Luck,
Peter

I would expect the BMC tool to provide a way to create the table.  Data Studio will build it for you.  SQL Reference, see appendix, Explain Tables, says you can run stored procedure ADMIN_EXPLAIN_MAINT.

So I had to test the SYSPROC,ADMIN_EXPLAIN_MAINT stored procedure and it works just fine, built the table with UNICODE (but reference states it won't covert an existing table to UNICODE).  Call was simple: call SYSPROC.ADMIN_EXPLAIN_MAINT ('RUN','CREATE',null,'DSN_STAT_FEEDBACK',null,'SAMBOX',null,'SAM',null,null,null,null,null,null,null,null,null,null,null,'','')
