SQLCODE -879

SQLCODE -879
Hi,
I tried to create a new function on a new V6 and what usually works fine
gives me the following reply -

SQLCODE = -879, ERROR: CREATE OR ALTER STATEMENT FOR
USR1.TOCHAR1 CANNOT DEFINE A COLUMN, DISTINCT TYPE,
FUNCTION OR STORED PROCEDURE PARAMETER AS MIXED
OR GRAPHIC WITH ENCODING SCHEME EBCDIC

Any ideas ? - I searched the archives and saw a similar question from some
time ago but with no reply.

Thanks.

and it looks like this is second time round with no reply :-) ........

"check the EBCIDIC CCSID field (#8) on panel DSNTIPF. If it is 0, and you
use DDF, you will have to correct the ccsid before running the dsntijsg
job.

If you are not running DDF, then these stored procedures will not work.
These are the stored procedures required to run
the DB2 Control Centre, which runs on a client. DDF is required for these.
If you do not want this function, just skip the step that is creating the
procedures. You can always create them later if you decide you want them,
and you have the prereqs."

this is a quote from a PMR that gave the same error code and message on
creation of a PROCEDURE (I know you said function but it sounds
suspiciously similar).

(in response to Aurora Dell'Anno)
You have received a SQLCODE -879 (SQLSTATE 53095) because the system does
not have an appropriate CCSID defined for the encoding scheme specified.

It might be a good idea to check if your new function tries to use a object
that is defined as MIXED DATA, GRAPHIC, VARGRAPHIC or LONG VARGRAPHIC.

Re: SQLCODE -879

Hi,

I agree that it sounds suspiciously similar to the problem with CREATE
PROCEDURE.

Check values for MIXED and all CCSIDS in the DSNHDECP data only module
compiled by job DSNTIJUZ. Mixed should be YES and CCSIDs set to valid
values. All the info is in the installation manual for panel DSNTIPF.
