DB2 UDB QUICK QUESTION
Does DB2 UDB for AIX reuse the space when a row is deleted or must a reorg
take place to reuse the space? This application is currently running DB2
V5.1.

DB2 UDB Question
(in response to Paul Dobbratz)
Hi,
I would like to know the benefits of using raw devices for Tablespaces in DB2 UDB Solaris . What is its performance in comparison to using File or Directory containers ?
What is the effort needed to maintain these tablespaces ?

Regards,

Hi,
The raw devices improves performance at least 20 -40% compared to
Directories. The benefits and comparisions are documented in DB2
Administration guide..
Maintainance activity depends upon, growth of the database.. This can be
automated by writting shell script.. If you have very high growth rate in
tables (which also changes from year to year), then you need to readjust the
container size..
Here we have 100 GB database, we have 20 mandays (approximate) acitivity
yearly..
I hope this input will help...

Thanks
