Problems with DB2 UDB AIX on RS/6000 HACMP (SP) cluster

Problems with DB2 UDB AIX on RS/6000 HACMP (SP) cluster
Is anyone else out there running DB2 UDB for AIX (V5.2) on an HACMP cluster ?

Have you tried the discovery facilities within Client Configuration Assistant ?

Does it find the DB2 instance successfully but catalog the internal ethernet address of the SP cluster ?

Do you get all the options within Control Center is you catalog manually ?

As you can gather we have problems with the above. Both OS/2 and Win32 clients have the same problem which suggests its a bug in the server side code.

Any help appreciated.

TIA

Re: Problems with DB2 UDB AIX on RS/6000 HACMP (SP) cluster
(in response to Philip Nelson)
Hi Philip,
We use WinNT workstations (DB2 v5.2, FP7), and used Control Centre to
catalog the AIX databases. Yes, Control Centre returns the IP address of the
switch, and uses the name of the switch as the system name. I just change
both to use the name for the node (not the switch name) I wanted.

We catalog 200 UDB databases with a script. We found that If we did not
specify all of the options that control centre wants, we got the restricted
set of options. V6 has a nice feature which displays the command CC is going
to use. For V5, we used trial and error to find a solution. Below is syntax
I used for an AIX database, which works for us. The commands manual will
tell you more about each parameter.

db2 CATALOG ADMIN TCPIP NODE somename REMOTE nodename REMOTE_INSTANCE
DB2DAS SYSTEM nodename OSTYPE AIX
db2 CATALOG TCPIP NODE nodename REMOTE nodename SERVER DB2 REMOTE_INSTANCE
db2cDB2 SYSTEM nodename OSTYPE AIX
db2 CATALOG DATABASE dbname AT NODE nodename

HTH,
Bruce
