SQLAdria - Croatian & Slovenian DB2 Users
Forty seven SQLAdria members are attending two day workshop "DB2 9 for z/OS and XML: A New Data Type for a New World" presented by Mike Bracey of IBM UK. The workshop is taking place 20-21 November 2008 in Opatija, Croatia, and it includes lectures and lab exercises. We are proud to be the first audience in Europe to which this material is presented! SQLAdria chairmanship organizes this type of events (seminars or workshops) anually, usually in mid-November. Besides seminars, SQLAdria chairmanship organizes one summer three day conference in Dubrovnik, Croatia, and two one day conferences: spring conference in Ljubljana, Slovenia, and autumn conference in Zagreb, Croatia. The Baltimore/Washington DB2 Users Group
The Baltimore/Washington DB2 Users’ Group meets quarterly in Columbia, Maryland, midway between Washington, DC and Baltimore, Maryland. The RUG was founded as a gathering point for computer professionals to discuss and share ideas on DB2 topics. Several IDUG Members Crowned Data Champions for their impressive contributions with DB2
IBM recognized 23 inaugural Data Champions at the Information on Demand Conference on Oct. 27 in Las Vegas, and the first full membership group will be announced in February. The Data Champion program recognizes and rewards the most significant community contributions from data management professionals. Of the inaugural 23 Data Champions, 16 are members of IDUG, including: Ted Alexander, Dave Beulke, Kevin Campbell, Robert Catterall, Cuneyt Gosku, Scott Hayes, Ole Holmskov, Brian Holroyd, Michael McBride, Judy Nall, Sheryl Larsen, Roger Sanders, Fred Sobotka, Julian Stuhler, and Paul Turpin.
IDUG members are encouraged to nominate colleagues to become a Data Champion. IBM will conduct an in depth review of each nomination we receive from the community to identify the most significant community contributors. Nominations will be accepted through January 31, 2009 and can be submitted at www.ibm.com/software/data/champion. [Read more...]

IDUG - DB2 9 for z/OS Bundle of Content
IDUG introduces a new format to provide its members with educational material "Bundled" together on a specific platform, or area within a platform. The first such "bundle" we have produced is to highlight DB2 V9 for z/OS. The bundle is made up of fourteen different educational materials (articles, webcasts, e-tips, etc.) that provide information on the basics of what to expect in V9, some application development hints & tips, tuning information and even how V9 can help one of our favorite packaged applications – People Soft.
