March 2023 President's Letter

Hello again to our IDUG members all over the world!

I am recently back from India and wanted to share a bit about my experience. I’m really glad I went to Chennai and Bengaluru for what was the first time IDUG has been in South Asia since 2019. Not only did we have over 100 attendees in each location, but the number of no-shows there (which have historically impacted the planning and execution of these events) significantly decreased this year.

It was wonderful to see the actualization of the planning by our dedicated national volunteers, followed by the efforts on-site by our team of committed local members. This is the essence of IDUG and what we deliver, year in and year out, to the Db2 community. Thank you so much to 2023 India sponsors IBM and Broadcom. We couldn’t do it without your support!

IDUG is already discussing how to improve upon this experience—including possible other locations and ways in which to attract more LUW participants—for 2024 and beyond. It was a very good start of our return to the Republic of India.

So IDUG’s expanded face-to-face events in 2023 are officially underway! Next up is our Australasia conference with three locations in Australia is starting this week. Our Sessions Grids there are filled with titles, speakers & abstracts and on our website. And it is not too late to register for Australasia (March 16-17 in Melbourne, March 20-21 in Canberra & March 23-24 in Sydney) right HERE.

We’re off to an exciting start to what is now IDUG’s 35th year as an independent user-run not-for-profit organization. IDUG is honoured to strengthen everyone in this community by providing the highest quality education and services for Db2. We appreciate your support! Until next time—wherever you may be reading this—stay healthy and stay safe.
