IDUG EMEA Lisbon 2017 Wrap Up

By Frederik Engelen posted Nov 24, 2017 12:50 PM

The 2017 IDUG Db2 Tech Conference took place in Lisbon, Portugal October 1-5. This event drew 15% more attendees than the previous year from around the world to be immersed in 4 days of Db2 education and training, new and emerging technologies and the opportunity to network with other tech professionals while experiencing a unique and memorable city. This makes it one of the most successful conferences in recent years, inviting many first-time attendees on top of this.

More than 120 technical sessions led by the brightest minds in Db2 and related technologies, offered attendees a chance to hear about the latest Db2 trends and best practices. Attendees also experienced top-notch education during three distinct keynote presentations, VSP’s, and expert panels.

This year’s edition was joined by the IDUG Data Tech Summit for the first time in Europe. The packed rooms were a testament to the appreciation for these sessions.

Keynote Highlights

Db2 personality Scott Hayes (DBI Software) kicked off the conference with a keynote on winning, sharing valuable life and career lessons with his audience. Tuesday’s keynote by Daniel Hernandez (IBM), explored the direction Db2 moves in to guarantee its relevance in tomorrow’s data economy.  Thursday’s closing keynote address featured Jonathan Adams (BMC Software) and collectively we considered how to turn all data into actionable information for a competitive business advantage based on the fact that companies in the digital age now store far more data about their customers.
