IDUG Charges into Summer

With a change in the weather, IDUG is also experiencing a change in leadership! I’m honored to take on the role of IDUG President for 2015/16.  I would like to thank Mark Labby who has now fully retired after over 10 years of service to IDUG. His biggest accomplishment was not ever presenting at an IDUG Conference! But really his contribution on the Web Committee, Global Marketing Committee and the Board of Directors have been huge and he has really influenced the shape of the IDUG you see today. I would also like to thanks David Chapman who resigned from the board of directors in May. His passion and dedication to the running of the AU conference has never stopped. He has also been involved with the web team and board vendor liaison where is successfully secured CA all year sponsorship. They will be both be missed from the IDUG family.

It is a pleasure and an honor to take on this role from Bjarne Nelson, who in the last year has lead the team through some exciting new changes, offering more educational content than ever before. Some big footsteps to follow.

It is such an exciting time at IDUG. IDUG events are experiencing great success, as is membership. Just a few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to attend the IDUG DB2 Tech Conference in Philadelphia! The event was a great success, drawing DB2 enthusiasts from across the globe to share their passion and knowledge with fellow industry leaders.

Although we’re still wrapping up IDUG in Philly here at IDUG Headquarters, we’re already looking ahead to the upcoming IDUG DB2 Tech Conference - Austrasia (15th- 18th September 2015) in Melbourne and EMEA (15-20 November, 2015) in Dublin. I hope you’re planning to attend one of these events, not only for the outstanding education, but the amazing conference location as well!

We have some more exciting changes coming up later this year, a re-vamped website to name just one.

Hope to see you soon,

Anna Brodie
