  • 1.  reorg of tablespace with LOB aux tablespace using stack yes

    We have a reorg of a tablespace with a LOB aux tablespace. When specifying stack yes we get an error. However specifying stack no we would use an inordinate number of vol sers.
    Has anyone run across this or have a solution?

    Is this tablespace UTS with relative page number?

    Bill,

    Stack is not allowed with AUX YES.

    This is from the Utility Manual:

    If you specify that REORG is to create inline copies and use a template for the copies, do not use
    the STACK YES option for the template. If you do so, REORG fails, because the base and auxiliary
    table spaces cannot be stacked on the same tape volume. If you need to use a template with the
    STACK YES option, specify AUX NO on the REORG statement and then reorganize and copy the
    auxiliary table spaces separately.

    Yeah, we hit this all the time. As mentioned, you can either specify AUX NO in the REORG control cards and do the auxiliary table separately, use STACK NO on the template, or send the inline copies to DASD if possible.
