DB2 - L

  • 1.  how to resolve a -981 for MQ

List – I am not an MQ/DB2 Sysprog.  So this process of upgrading to MQ V9.1 has been a challenge

So what does this have to do with DB2?  MQ Queue Sharing uses a DB2 table to manage functions for queues in MQ across multiple LPAR

So I seem to stumble when I get to the Migration job for the MQ DB2 tables.

Currently I am receiving a -981 when the migration is run.  MQ L2 has not been able to identify why the -981 is being produced  They have recommended a DB2 Accounting trace.

-981 THE SQL STATEMENT FAILED BECAUSE THE RRSAF CONNECTION IS NOT IN A STATE THAT ALLOWS SQL OPERATIONS, REASON reason-code.
    Explanation
The application attempted to execute an SQL operation, but the RRSAF connection was not in a state that allows the processing of SQL statements.

    System action
    The statement cannot be processed.

    Programmer response
Correct the error in the application, REBIND, and run the application again.

    SQLSTATE
    57015

Has anyone see this or what I can triage?

All Binds and Grants have been run

The lower level environments – Sandbox and Dev – have successfully upgraded

I just cannot see what this part in prod fails.

Any thoughts or guidance is appreciated.

No idea. I had no problem with the Db2 tables. But that might have been because, while
tables had been created at some time, MQ sharing had not actually been implemented and I
could just drop and create them.

Obvious question: what was the reason-code? If it wasn't shown (!), you might need to trace
IFCID 58 and extract it from there.

Not obvious question: were there any ATRxxx messages on the system log?

    Hi Lizette,

I'd also check for any ICH408I security violations on the SYSLOG. I've seen security issues surface in strange ways too many times.
