  • 1.  ssidDBM1 started task use of ENCLAVES ?

    Posted Dec 01, 2021 03:06 PM
In the course of research into one of our LPARs running at 100% CPU, I was alerted by another member of my team to the fact that one of the Enclaves in use belongs to my ssidDBM1 started task.  I was unaware that anything but the ssidDIST region would ever use an Enclave.  Does anyone know what this is used for ?  I found on my own that not only does ssidDBM1 have an exclave, but ssidMSTR has two !

    Thanks,

    Hi Kirk,

Db2 runs some internal agents on SRBs in DBM1 and MSTR, see https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/db2-for-zos/12?topic=db2-authorized-ziip-uses-processing

    Thanks very much Jorn,
So if I'm interpreting this correctly, some work from DBM1 and MSTR was moved to Enclaves to make it eligible to run on Ziip processors ?

    Thanks,
