DB2 - L

  • 1.  Migrate MS SQL Server to Db2 for LUW

    Hello everyone.
A prospective customer has a requirement to migrate an MS SQL Server database to Db2 for LUW. My team has previously done something similar with great success migrating Oracle to Db2 for a large integrated financial services institution. We used what was then called the IBM Data Migration Tool (IDMT) which has been rebuilt as Database Conversion Workbench (DCW). Unfortunately DCW does not currently support MS SQL Server as a source (although I am told that is in plan).

I am looking for a tool or platform which will help support conversion of the following components from MS SQL Server format or syntax to Db2 as much as possible.
    • data
    • data structures (DDL)
    • SQL
    • Stored Procedures (SPs)
    • application code
    • Concurrency and Consistency control
    • utilities (e.g. backup/recovery, reorgs, etc.)
    • downstream ETL processes
If you've read this far you probably already know that Db2 natively supports Oracle syntax for SQL and SPs. But that is not the case for MS SQL Server.

I will be most grateful for any insight you might provide.

For those who observe - Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

    Cheers,
    Frank

    Hi Frank

I used DCW many years ago in pre-sales in Venezuela, converting T-SQL to db2 with an effectiveness of 99% over 2000 sp.

    Hope useful to you.
