SPEAKERS: Bryan Smith (IBM Corportation)

This presentation reviews DB2 access path and space statistics; why you need to collect them; and how DB2 uses the information. The real-time statistics are also reviewed and examples are given how you can use them to run utilities on an exception basis. Lastly, this presentation introduces the no-charge Data Studio offering and how DB2 for z/OS DBAs can use it for tasks like identifying what access path statistics to collect. Upon completion of this session, the attendee, whose skill level may range from low to high, will be able to understand how to get the most out of DB2's statistics and how Data Studio can be used to complement other administrative tooling.
