This presentation will discuss migrating to V10 of DB2 for z/OS from both V8 and V9 of DB2. We will discuss the migration process and what happens when, along with a discussion of why some of these changes were necessary. We'll also talk about V10 prerequisites and deprecated functions. Finally we'll talk about what you can expect from the various modes of operation during migration. The primary focus of the content of this session is on the person who plans, installs, and executes the migration process. Systems programmers and database administrators generally perform this task.

How the structure of the V9 Catalog and Directory is placing limitations on what can be accomplished by DB2 for z/OS

What we have done in DB2 10 for z/OS to overcome these limitations and how these changes affect the operation of DB2

The prerequisites for migrating to V10 and the deprecated functions

What to expect from migrating to DB2 10 for z/OS on day 1
