Today Cloud Computing is considered as a buzzword in technology stream. Everyone is trying hard to make their lives simpler by introducing cloud in the form of infrastructure (Infrastructure as a Service), platform (Platform as a Service) or software (Software as a Service). Cloud computing is an emerging computing trend and popular business model in which applications, data and IT services are provided to user as a service delivered over high bandwidth network.

IBM introduced a new Platform as a Service model called BlueMix based on the open source Cloud Foundry and adds great number of pre-packaged services on the top of the Cloud Foundry itself. It provides SQL services based on IBM DB2 database. DB2 on cloud provides Database as a Service. It uses the on-premises DB2 features combined with agility of cloud computing and provides rich user experience and business model without cost complexity and risk of managing the infrastructure. IBM DB2 on cloud provides all DB2 security features as well as performance optimization with little interruption of the services.

This presentation will focus on using IBM DB2 on Cloud and how to make most of it in order to develop robust OLTP applications. This presentation will focus on following topics
1) Brief introduction to Cloud Computing and Cloud as Utility Computing platform
2) Overview of the IBM BlueMix and the services it provides
3) Introduction to IBM DB2 on Cloud (Use, Configurations, Pricing Models).
4) Advantages of using IBM DB2 as a PaaS (Platform as a Service)
5) Tips for using DB2 on cloud to get most of the benefits.
