  • 1.  timing for v13 migration?

What is the opinions out there for when v12 will go EOS?

I see that v12 will go EOM in June 2023.

My first thought was to just be prepared to go to v13 in June just in case.

    Perhaps I am rushing things.....

While I see some nice additional features in v13, I do not see anything yet that we would be very eager to have.

    Any thoughts? Feedback?

    thanks

    Bill

Well, it depends on your reasons for migrating to Db2 V13.

The end-of-marketing is June 2023, which means that IBM will stop selling it ("Stands for End of Marketing and refers to the effective date on which a VRM and associated part number ceases to be available and can no longer be ordered via standard price lists.")

However, it will continue to be supported.

Historically the end-of-service have been 1-3 years after end-of-marketing, but I don't know if that will be the same for V12.

    Have a look at
    https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/lifecycle/search?q=db2%20for%20z%2FOS

Generally EOS (at least for Db2) has been 4 years after the successor version goes GA.
(past performance is no indicator of future performance) So it is inlikely (my word) that EOS
for Db2 12 for z/OS will be before 2026. IBM generally gives one year's notice of EOS dates.
