Technical areas this presentation will apply to: Database Performance (DB2 for z/OS), New Release (DB2 for z/OS)
Objective 1: Learn about the scalability enhancements in DB2 10 for z/OS related to virtual storage, latching and catalog access concurrency.
Objective 2: Learn how DB2 for z/OS will save you CPU resources.
Objective 3: Learn about the I/O improvements such as faster logging, parallel index I/O for inserts, improved sequential detection, and use of list prefetch when scanning disorganized indexes.
Objective 4: Learn about the improvement performance and management of large objects.
Objective 5: Learn how DB2 10 provides for online schema changes, which can also lead to better performance in some cases.

Abstract:  Come learn why everybody is talking about DB2 10 for z/OS. DB2 10 delivers the most aggressive performance improvements of any DB2 release in the last 20 years. Gone are the virtual storage constraints and latching constraints that once limited the number of threads that one DB2 member could run. You will save considerable CPU resources and enjoy numerous I/O improvements with DB2 10. Most of these improvements are enabled even in CM mode, available ‚Äúout of the box‚Äù. Furthermore, DB2 10 increases the synergy with new storage hardware enhancements that will save more system resources and makes it easier to manage your data.
