In this presentation, we will explain the roadmap we used for migrating from z/OS V12 FL500 to FL510 and how we managed the APPLCOMPAT levels of the DB2 packages during this migration.

The information about getpages has been available for free since Db2 V12 in RTS and I will explain how to take advantage of this precious information. After this presentation, you can implement a simple monitoring tool in one hour and directly get the advantages of this new source of data. We will help you identify objects with a high getpage activity or objects candidates for page steal none buffers. This will help you have a better view on objects' behavior and with what is the most used index for a table.

In an OLTP environment where every microsecond matters, the ability to access real-time data for instantaneous analysis is critically important. Additionally, after such diagnosis, quick remediation is necessary. What do you do if the problem is not the access path? How do you resolve performance problems if: they affect latch waits; the number of waits for log writes is abnormally large; the response times vary dramatically dependent on the variable values; or the number of long prepares is constantly growing? In this presentation, we will identify problem areas, analyze dynamic queries, and resolve the problems. Therefore, I've selected 10 use cases derived from everyday practical work and only two of them are related to access path issues.
