Dear IDUG Membership,
It is an honour to serve you as President, a task that I am very much looking forward to. I want to start by thanking each of you for your participation in our DB2 community. A special thank you to the many dedicated volunteers who spend countless hours supporting this great organization.
The IDUG DB2 Tech Conference in Denver kicked off another IDUG year in high gear. As it has come to be expected of an IDUG Conference, the technical content and networking opportunities were excellent. I cannot tell you how often I heard this from our attendees. A very special thanks to Rob Crane, Conference Planning Committee Chair, and his team for ‘raising the bar’ this year - it just doesn’t get any better!
Having spent the best part of the past 4 years working through the aftermath of the 2008 financial ‘tsunami,’ I am pleased to tell you that IDUG is back and revitalized. We realize that we need to be more than just an event-driven organization. Coming to the conference should only be part of the journey. We want to engage our members all year. The following are some key areas that will further help with our revitalization. I will discuss these in detail over the coming months.
- IDUG Mission Statement – We altered our mission statement to better service our DB2 community. We realize that we need to stay relevant to our members.
- IDUG DB2 Tech Channel (www.idug-DB2.com) – This is an exciting new delivery channel for fresh DB2 content. The YouTube for DB2 professionals.
- More “Grass Roots” involvement.
- Enhancements to the very popular “IDUG Mentor” program.
Stay connected to IDUG. Make www.IDUG.org your gateway to the worldwide DB2 Community and in-depth technical information.
