September President's Message - Attend IDUG Events for Technical Content and Networking

Dear IDUG Membership,

It is hard to believe another month has gone by! With September already here, this means that we are gearing up for two of our main annual events. This is where IDUG excels. There are no better DB2 education and networking opportunities than at IDUG events. IDUG DB2 Tech Conferences are definitely the best bang for your dollar! IDUG events offer the best DB2 technical training in a variety of formats - from full-day classes/workshops to technical deep dives to short presentations on special technical topics and/or new product features -  and you not only get DB2 education, but education on many other technologies that are relevant to DB2 … and you!  Emerging technologies, like Big Data, complement the events DB2 technical material as well. At IDUG DB2 Tech Conferences, you don’t just get to listen to the experts ... USER experiences are the cornerstone of IDUG.

Networking is another valuable component of our events. You’ll have the opportunity to reacquaint yourself with your DB2 colleagues through a variety of activities.

Make sure to mark your calendars and register today to attend these two premier IDUG events:

IDUG DB2 Tech Conference in Sydney, Australia 2012
Sydney, Australia
12 - 14 September, 2012

IDUG DB2 Tech Conference in Berlin, Germany 2012
Estrel Hotel, Berlin, Germany
4 - 9 November 2012

Finally, I want to thank Dan Luksetich for this month’s feature article – Can You Replace an Entire Application Program with a Single OLAP Query. An inspiring article indeed! I am not, nor have I ever been a programmer, but, I see immediate uses for these OLAP functions in my day to day job. I am a DB2 for z/OS performance and capacity analyst, so I write a lot of SQL against our performance database, and I can’t wait to start using these OLAP functions.

As always, stay connected to IDUG … make your gateway to the worldwide DB2 Community and in-depth technical information.

With Best Regards,

Joe Borges

IDUG President
