It is hard to believe that fall is already upon us and kids are headed back to school whether in person, hybrid, or online. Families are challenged with the added stress of working from home or at the office and managing day to day family life and their children’s educational needs. In my home, we are also experiencing the joy and strangely, the stress, of our son going back to the University of Cincinnati. There is constant concern that we will be receiving notice that he has been exposed or has tested positive for COVID-19, which is always on our minds. Social distancing amongst college students is extremely hard to manage but they are trying to get back to some normalcy.
Technology has become essential in the success of our students as well as all of us as professionals. Adapting to this new environment is critical for us as well. Now is the time for us to work together to create IDUG’s response to this continuing situation by connecting, networking, and creating meaningful virtual events to keep us all on track.
IDUG EMEA 2020 Virtual Event - November 16–19, 2020
IDUG’s first virtual event, NA 2020, is now over and we are pleased to announce a virtual conference for EMEA. We learned a great deal from the North American Virtual Conference, and we are reviewing the attendee surveys and input from our speakers and vendor partners in order to improve the IDUG virtual experience. The Conference Planning Committee for EMEA is now working with the IDUG Board of Directors, IDUG HQ, and volunteers from North America in an effort to build a better virtual event.
Register today for the EMEA Conference. Your $199 registration includes a one-year premium membership. If you’re already a premium member, you can add the EMEA Conference to your membership for only $99.
Multi-RUG Virtual Events
Two members of the IDUG board are also board members for NEODBUG, and we recently had the opportunity to partner with user groups from Michigan, Central Ohio, Nashville, and Alabama to create a virtual RUG event welcoming approximately 150 attendees. We were able to hold this virtual event because a vendor offered to host at no cost to the user groups. IDUG now has a virtual platform and we intend to offer this solution, at no cost, to RUGs around the world. During the month of September IDUG is going to run a pilot virtual event with user groups in the Midwest. We would like to be able to leverage this experience to offer this platform to other RUGs around the globe.
The Latin America Virtual Db2 Tech Seminars - December 8, 9, & 10
The call for presentations for both Brazil and Mexico City is now open and registration for these virtual events will open soon. IDUG is offering complimentary z/OS certification and LUW badging opportunities for everyone who registers for these events.
As is the case with many IT projects, we have experienced delays in getting the new community-centric website up and running, however we will be refreshing it during the month of September.
