It is the end of August—back-to-school season here in the US. Two years ago, I decided to go back to school to get my second master’s degree. I realize that going back to school and IDUG have a lot in common.
I can’t believe it has almost been a month since I wrote the first newsletter. It is summer time here in the US, the season where we try to take a break, travel, and recharge ourselves. I have been trying to juggle the traveling act with all my regular duties, including writing the IDUG newsletter.
Even though I've learned a lot during my time with IDUG, there is still plenty that I have not learned or mastered yet. One of these things is packing and preparing for a conference (or any other kind of trip for that matter).

Last month I shared a few lessons I learned during my time volunteering with IDUG. Although I could fill a book with all the things I've learned as a volunteer, I'll highlight just a few more takeaways that I think could benefit everyone interested in volunteering with IDUG.
