Database Administration is perhaps one of the most misunderstood disciplines in all of IT. Ask a manager what it is that a DBA does and you'll likely hear something like "I don't know, but I can't afford any more of them!" At the same time, managing production databases is becoming more and more complex as database management systems add functionality and support more types of development. This presentation will clarify the roles and responsibilities of the DBA and offer guidance for an effective DBA function. It will offer the DB2 DBA a database administration roadmap, of sorts.
