Table expressions have existed long in DB2. In DB2 for z/OS only the Nested Table Expression (and its less wellknown variation Correlated NTE) has been available. With V8 of DB2 for z/OS also the Correlated Table Expression was made available. The CTE is valuable itself, but is also a prerequisite for Recursive SQL, which canm be used to solve Bill-of-Material problems. The presentation will give a technical overview and alsodiscuss performance and practical examples.
