Although Java applications using JDBC have become the de-facto standard in web application environments, many DB2 administrators have been tested by the challenges inherent with the dynamic SQL normally used. Many of these same administrators are familiar with the operational characteristics of static SQL applications from traditional OLTP environments. In fact a few enterprise environments still donít permit JDBC applications, or only permit them to call stored procedures.For Java Application Developers, the SQLJ programming interface has been the only choice for enabling static SQL. Now the pureQuery platform provides other options to easily deploy Java applications using static SQL. Existing dynamic JDBC applications can be converted to use static SQL packages. Or developers can code new applications using the pureQuery programming API from the high productivity Data Studio Developer product. The accompanying utilities greatly simplify static deployment.
