Topic: Cross Platform DB2 for z/OS & LUW
Configuration Management systems are built for delivering source code. Database changes are a very different beast. We need tools and processes to repeatably, reliably, deliver DDL changes, SQL procedures, database objects, and SQL scripts. We also need tooling for populating data into new columns. Rollbacks present another unique challenge. Also, there is the issue of delivering iterative changes for each build, and then bundling them into a complete release package. All of these issues are more challenging in a continuously available environment, where the applications have to be running, even during code deploys. Various methods of managing database code changes, from dev to test to prod, will be presented.
