Good SQL performance is something developers and DBAs alike aspire to. SQL that performed well yesterday may have degraded seemingly overnight. This presentation will provide suggestions on where and how to look for clues about changes in performance for both dynamic and static SQL. The particulars of using plan management to revert to the prior or original copy of a package will be covered. Additionally, information will be presented on the identification of SQL "tricks" that may cause a problem as opposed to "tricks" that should not cause a problem. Finally, tips on how to code or recode troublesome queries will be covered.
