dashDB Analytics and Transactional - psst - It's DB2 in the Cloud and More dashDB is the IBM analytics database in the cloud and has been available for some time. But just hot off the presses is a new announcement from IBM called "dashDB transactional" - a new fully managed cloud service for running transactional workload in the cloud. And guess what's under the covers of both dashDB Analytics and dashDB Transactional? It's the database you all know and love ... DB2! Join Chris as he talks about how you already know more about running your various workload in the cloud than you may think because under the covers is the database engine you are already and expert in; DB2. Chris will cover both dashDB for analytic workloads and the newly announced dashDB for transactional workloads and how they are similar and how they are different. And as a DBA we will talk about what you still need to worry about from an administration perspective and what administration tasks are managed for you because these are managed services from IBM. We will also touch on where these services run (in what countries and what cities) and what you should understand in terms of cloud security, cloud latency, etc.
