Topic: DB2 for LUW
DATE: 2011-5-6 (10:30 AM - 11:30 AM)
SPEAKERS: Alexander Kopac (Home Depot)
The DB2 LUW Design Advisor is cool tool designed to help define suitable indexes and for testing SQL workloads. Here's a presentation that covers both the command line syntax basics and the GUI approach for making both miracles and monsters. Based on many real life user experiences, you learn how to discern the miracles from the monsters in order to dramatically improve overall DB2 LUW database performance. You will see & learn a step-by-step process on how to develop that 'discerning eye' needed to evaluate the index recommendations and cast away the less than useful monster index recommendations. This presentation will show frequently found and common user experience 'opportunities' for rather large databases - i.e. 30,000-80,000 tables in DB2 LUW systems supporting Peoplesoft, BAAN, SAP and other large table/index systems. DB2 LUW indexing best practices and guidelines will be provided.
