Imagine that your CIO requested you to define the architecture for your company's Neo Generation System (NGS) to completely replace the existing core application systems. Like a new beginning without the ties of old compromises, apart from data migration, of course. This is exactly the situation that Andrew Park from Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance (SFMI) found himself in a couple of years ago, and this presentation is the story about some of the architectural choices made, technical challenges met, and how these challenges were overcome.Quite early on it became obvious that DB2 for z/OS was the right DBMS of choice, but a key requirement of keeping the architecture open and flexible also meant that JDBC and dynamic SQL would be the way of life.
