DDF is the DB2 UDB for z/OS transaction manager for distributed database connections. Cheaper z/OS mainframe IP network hardware has led to growing volumes of TCP/IP traffic to and from your z/OS DB2 systems. Why should you - a DB2 expert - care about TCP/IP? Because a network-centric perspective of your DB2 DDF activity can complement the value of your DB2-specific tools by helping with DB2 problem determination. Mainframe network management products can do tasks like measuring DDF traffic throughput, raising alarms on DDF connection problems, tracing DDF TCP/IP packets, and formatting the traced DRDA conversations.
